Available Position: Vice President of Sales

General Summary

The Vice President of Sales serves as the leader of R+D’s sales organization, responsible for driving order bookings, revenue growth, and customer engagement through the effective leadership of Account Managers, Sales Engineers, and Application Engineers. This role develops and executes sales and marketing strategies, establishes performance expectations, and fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The Vice President of Sales works closely with the VP of Business Development to strengthen customer relationships, expand market opportunities, and achieve the company’s strategic growth objectives.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

· Sales Leadership

o Lead, coach, and develop the sales team to achieve individual and organizational objectives.

o Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and accountability measures aligned with company objectives.

o Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture that supports growth and operational excellence.

o Conduct regular performance reviews, mentoring, and professional development activities.

 

· Sales Strategy & Performance

o Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve the annual and midterm order booking and growth targets.

o Manage pricing strategies that balance profitability, competitiveness, and long-term customer value.

o Monitor sales performance, pipelines, forecasts, and market trends to identify opportunities and risks.

o Drive the conversion of quotations to orders through proactive customer engagement and value-based selling.

o Maintain visibility into customer projects, forecasts, and emerging business opportunities.

 

· Marketing

o Develop and execute sales and marketing plans that support strategic business objectives.

o Partner with marketing and business development to strengthen brand awareness and generate new opportunities.

o Build and maintain relationships with key customers, industry influencers, and strategic partners.

o Represent company at exhibitions, fairs and professional events

 

· Operational Excellence & Risk Management

o Identify and mitigate commercial and technical risks during the quoting and sales process.

o Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

o Lead continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, quality, and resource utilization.

o Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of customer projects and business objectives.

o Collaborate with parent company stakeholders in the U.S. and Germany as needed.

 

· Additional Responsibilities

o Contribute to strategic planning and organizational improvement initiatives.

o Remain informed of industry developments and regulatory changes affecting the business.

o Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field required; MBA preferred.

2. Minimum of 5-7 years of sales experience within the automation industry, including custom engineered-to-order solutions.

3. Life sciences and Pharma industry experience preferred.

4. Minimum of 5-7years of progressive sales leadership experience.

5. Demonstrated success achieving sales growth, order booking targets, and profitability objectives.

6. Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.

7. Strong understanding of technical sales processes and complex engineered solutions.

8. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

9. Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.

10. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.

11. Proficiency with Microsoft 365, ERP systems, CRM platforms, and sales management tools.

12. Working knowledge of applicable industry regulations and compliance requirements.

13. Valid driver’s license

 

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in an office environment with occasional exposure to manufacturing and customer-site environments. The role requires periodic travel to customer locations, professional events, and company facilities, estimated at up to 30%.

 

This is an onsite position with flexible working hours available based on business needs.
